Zip Car is one of those all time great ideas — an alternate choice to owning a car. ….especially if you don’t have an everyday need for one. You can rent a variety of automobiles by the hour or day without having to wait in line, or deal with the stresses that usually come along with visiting a car rental facility.
it’s not often that I need a car, but when I do… I go to Zip Car’s website, find a car parked nearby, quickly request it for a certain amount of time… and the best part — I simply walk up to the car and drive off…. it’s that easy….
There’s an ATM like card that I carry, and when pressed against a small device on the windshield the car doors unlock and the keys to the ignition are in the center console… it works out best for me when I only need it for an hour or two, which averages between $8 and $12.50 per hour depending on the car. I usually rent the Nissan Versa or the Mini Cooper, both are real quick and maneuver well, the Nissan has more room for shopping, or moving stuff.. it’s a nice size four door hatchback. Or you have the option of a Volvo or BMW at the slightly higher rate.
insurance and gas are included!! (how can you beat that?)

If you plan on joining, click on this link to get started and we’ll each get $25 towards zip car rentals.
Zip Car is available in most major cities and the system is growing at a ridiculous pace, especially since acquiring the second biggest (and only other?) operation, Flexcar. If you don’t see a Zip Car location in your area, there will be one soon for sure!!
