I’m all for sports at a young age, including some of the rougher ones, pee wee football, hockey, and wrestling… even martial arts, since it’s so disciplined. though, something about young kids participating in ultimate fighting doesn’t sit right. I’m sure there’s a degree of discipline involved with the sport, but when it comes to game time the idea is to beat your opponent into submission!?
Kids as young as 6 years old are competing at a group called “Garage Boys Fight Crew” in southwest Missouri, punching and kicking until the other can’t take it anymore… “the trend alarms medical experts and sports officials who worry that young bodies can’t withstand the pounding”
One of the Father’s of a “Garage Boy” says “We’re not training them for dog fighting,” said Bloomer. “As a parent, I’d rather have my kids here learning how to defend themselves and get positive reinforcement than out on the streets.”
I don’t know… never being to the mean streets of southwest Missouri and all……. it may be unfair of me to call his statement ridiculous.
strangely, it’s the first state that legalized the junior version of ultimate fighting… in many states it’s a misdemeanor for children to participate.
really a case of times changing, or will this be shunned upon like I believe it should be? I wonder.
