The market has seen some troubled times recently, and depending on what industry decides how badly the stock price has been treated. In many cases the value of stock have been cut in half, which is a real shitty feelings… and an exciting time watching a good portion of them recover.
It’s been 6 months since I posted about these stocks, written about in two blog entries, on July 15th and October 23rd, as well as posts from November in the Stock Talk section of the bulletin board. Overall, we’re up - probably around +12% across the board, but after a scary time and quite a recovery in several cases.
AAPL - purchase price: 137.73 today: 187.62 (+36%)
you can’t listen to me when it comes to Apple, I’m a member of “the cult” and will tell you to hold it until the end of time, but shit — why wouldn’t you when it will see $260 a share? I suppose the right thing to do is sell half of your holdings now, or maybe when it hits $200 if you choose..
GOOG - purchase price: 552.16 today: 580.07 (+5%)
who knows after seeing it take that ride down to $412/share but it seems to be doing well now, they had great earning figures and the stock price will continue to rise as the rest of the market does.
AMZN - purchase price: 75.10 today: 76.46 (+1.8%)
dipped as low as $60 in March but coming back nicely..
SNCR - purchase price: 32.49 today: 12.40 (-62%)
ouch, ouch, ouch. the company that is used to activate iPhones for users online, I still have faith, and if you do too, it’s time to double your holdings and bring the purchase price down to around $22.
BBD - purchase price: 30.71 today: 23.40 (+11%)
saw a 3:2 stock split and is steadily increasing since.
ESLR - purchase price: 12.75 today: 9.45 (-26%)
took a hit, but this is a great opportunity to buy more, bringing the purchase price down to around $11. we’re waiting to see Evergreen’s stuff in 2009. a great choice in the solar energy industry, it will gradually increase until then, but we’ll really see good numbers next year.
CSIQ - purchase price: 14.99 today: 44.90 (+200%)
a case of - ‘I wish we put it all on this one’. But that’s the fun of the game.. Canadian Solar, based in China — this one tripled over the last 6 months. Woo-Hoo!!!
GA - purchase price: 11.10 today: 15.60 (+40%)
one of the bigger online game developers in China, this one will continue to be one of our bigger moneymakers.
NTWK - purchase price: 3.04 today: 2.99 (-1.6%)
wow, talk about wanting to pull the hair out of your head, this one dipped down to 1.50 at one point. yow! that hurt for a second there. It’s almost back to it’s purchase price, and I believe it will continue to increase in value over the next few months.
RIO - purchase price: 32.56 today: 43.86 (+35%)
another winner. and it will continue to increase…
AEND - purchase price: 0.28 today: .02 (-93%)
our “bonus” and risky penny stock isn’t looking too good but I have faith. What a good time it would be to buy… if you were willing to gamble $1,000 and pick up 50,000 shares… I believe it will once again sell for $1 a share, and more - ideally Pepsi will buy the company at some point.
Considering all that the market went through just now I’m feeling real good about all these picks still. We need to put more of this (imaginary?) portfolio into the solar energy industry but otherwise, things are looking good, we’ve seen a huge comeback for a bunch of these companies, and I’ll post about them more often, especially with the volatility, it’ll be fun to check on them more frequently.
